​Security Needs Assessments​



Summers Associates' Security Needs Assessments examine current security conditions, existing security system's design, along with the strengths and weaknesses of the overall security program. The resulting report will summarize all findings and provide recommendations to enhance existing security principles and practices. Questionnaire formats are commonly used in this process to assess employee perceptions of security in their workplace. Survey findings are detailed and recommendations ranked according to priority and urgency. Associated cost estimates are provided where required. Summers Associates also conducts validation and acceptance studies that address system and program designs, including the use of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) techniques.​

Summers Associates evaluates existing security policies and procedures to guide the development of new improved documents that remain consistent with organizational mission, values, and objectives. Policy and procedural development includes an analysis of security programs from an administrative and operational perspective. Their evaluation explores physical and personnel security issues and operational practices. It can be used as a basis for evaluating the existing security program for consistency with organizational goals and best business practices.



Security Loss Prevention Audits



The greatest risk to corporate assets often involves theft and asset diversion. Summers Associates' security consultants can minimize that risk by evaluating current practices along with the effectiveness of operational policies and procedures that relate to the inventory control and management of assets. Consultants identify and address security system and program deficiencies to develop and promote sound security standards and practices. This process evaluates short and long term planning requirements that relate to facility infrastructure, policies, procedures, security operations, and existing security systems. Systems Design/Construction Documents



Summers Associates has extensive experience in the design of access control/alarm monitoring, biometrics, video imaging, CCTV, intrusion detection, long/short range communications, X-ray/metal detection and asset protection systems. The firm also provides design drawing reviews that outline system performance criteria, to include security design and concept methodology, equipment locations, connectivity, specifications and other design layout requirements. In addition, Summers Associates prepares complete bid/specification package documentation as well as security console and control room designs.

Construction Period Services



Summers Associates provides comprehensive management oversight of security design efforts from concept through construction. Specific efforts could include systems acceptance testing support and monitoring installation/design-build efforts to ensure compliance with design requirements outlined in specification documents.

Submittal Reviews and Approvals



Summers Associates provides design support in the review of design drawings and related support documentation. Reviews will cover accuracy of layout, appropriateness of design, adherence to technical codes and standards and a cost-benefit review.



Bid Reviews and Evaluations

Summers Associates supports clients in addressing the various elements of the procurement process, such as developing bid project requirements, evaluation and negotiation criteria, design budgets/cost estimates, and work schedules. Summers Associates develops bid criteria and specifications, evaluates contractor bids, and develops and evaluates requests for proposals.

Budget Estimating



Summers Associates develops project cost estimates based on system and program requirements and design and specification documents, to include equipment, labor, installation, project management and contingency fees. Summers Associates’ approach incorporates the use of value engineering techniques to ensure all security projects are completed on time and within budget.

System Performance Acceptance Testing & Support



Summers Associates performs system acceptance testing to ensure that installation and performance are in line with requisite specification documents.
